Last year, Nintendo announced a network maintenance that will last for a couple of hours on January 7, 2020 JST.
The maintenance, originally scheduled to end at around 1:30pm – 2:30pm JST, is now expected to end between 1:30pm to 3:30pm JST. No reason for the extension was given, but speculation is flying about a new system update:
During the network maintenance, all online services, including the Nintendo eShop, will be down.
