The Nintendo Switch Shortage Is About To End In Japan

Before 2017 came to a close, we happily reported on how the Super Famicom Classic Mini shortage ended in Japan.

Today we’re elated to inform you after 9 months that the long and hideous Nintendo Switch shortage is soon coming to an end in Japan. In Tokyo, retailers such as Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera, and Tsutaya have had all three variants of the Switch (Gray, Neon, and Super Mario Odyssey) readily available at cash registers. Things are improving throughout the country in both rural areas and cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, and Sapporo.

The biggest barometer that points to the Nintendo Switch shortage ending is none other than whether the Switch can be found online in Japan. Amazon Japan has both the Gray and Neon Nintendo Switch in stock for over 24 hours now, while Yodobashi Camera’s online site has the Neon Nintendo Switch in stock for a similar period of time.

Unfortunately Bic Camera, Nojima Online, Rakuten Books, and numerous other retailers online do not have the Switch in stock at this point of time, so we can’t declare that the shortage is fully over yet. At the rate it is going, we expect the Switch shortage to completely end in Japan in the next 2 to 4 weeks.
