As you all know, Nintendo is releasing an improved Nintendo Switch with longer battery life in August 2019.
Besides differences in boxart, there are two other ways to identify which is the old model and which is the new model.
First is the first few characters of the product code. The old model’s product code starts with “HAC-001”, while the new model’s product code begins with “HAC-001-01”.
Another easy way to tell the difference is by checking the serial number of the device, found on the bottom of the console and the bottom of the box. The old model’s serial number begins with “XAW” whereas the new model starts with “XKW”.
