Earlier today, the internet was sent into a frenzy after a listing on Nintendo UK’s website seemingly leaked details about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s fourth DLC fighter.
The listing in question was one for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s “Challenger Pack 4”, and mentioned videogame publisher SNK in its copyright credits. When this listing was discovered on Nintendo UK’s website, it sparked a wave of speculation that the next DLC Fighter was from SNK. Candidates from King Of Fighters, Metal Slug, and Samurai Shodown were all tossed around during the excitement.
Of course, not everyone was convinced of the leak’s legitimacy, as many quickly pointed out that it could be a simple error on the site runner’s part. Fans noted that the DLC copyright and file size were very similar to the SNK Heroines DLC, suggesting that perhaps there was a mixup somewhere. Arguments for and against this line of reasoning were also hotly debated.
In the end however, it seems that Nintendo UK has taken that listing down as it no longer shows up on the website. Whether this is due to wanting to correct an error or plug up a “leak” is currently unknown. Regardless, this will likely to little to quell discussion about a potential SNK newcomer for Smash, at least until the next Nintendo Direct.
