Nvidia Achieves Record Quartely Revenue Thanks To The Switch

The Nintendo Switch is selling like hot cakes, fuelling the demand for Nvidia’s Tegra chips which power the gaming console. This contributed to one of the factors leading to Nvidia’s record-breaking revenue this quarter.

At their financial call, Nvidia’ CEO, Jensen Huang, credits their growth to the Tegra processors, including those made for the Switch, which saw a 33% year over year growth.

“Gaming GPU growth was fueled by demand for the best experience while playing esports, momentum of the battle royale genre, and triple-A cinematic games,” reads Nvidia’s earnings report. “Tegra Processor business revenue — which includes SOC modules for the Nintendo Switch gaming console — was $442 million, up 33 percent from a year ago and down 2 percent sequentially.”

Looks like the Switch is not keeping any of its success just for itself, but sharing it with others like that of Nvidia.
