The domination of digital media has claimed yet another victim – one close to the hearts of Spanish Nintendo fans.
Axel Springer announced today the the Official Nintendo Magazine would ceasing publication in Spain. The final issue will be hitting new-stands sometime next week, after more than 300 issues and 26 years of circulation. The Official Nintendo Magazine also had a UK counterpart, which likewise ceased publications back in 2014.
While unfortunate, the move is not surprising. According to El Confidencial, Axel Springer’s Spanish division was already hemorrhaging money during 2018 – so The Official Nintendo magazine was always two steps away from the chopping block.
With the magazine’s cancellation, it looks like Nintendo fans in Spain will just have to stay online for their news fix.
