The Pokemon Company has implemented a queue system to the English Pokemon Center Online Store.
As reported by Pokebeach, visitors who go to the site when there is a high volume of traffic will be put into a virtual “waiting room” where they must wait their turn to access a page. This is similar to the system that is currently being used by the Japanese version of the site. Pokebeach reported that the English version was only added recently, specifically last week when some TCG products were restocked on the site.

This waiting room is assumed to be a measure to deter scalpers, a common issue faced due to the high demand for Pokemon merch, especially for the TCG. Only time will tell how effective this measure will be moving forward.
