After more than a year, Nintendo’s request to register the Pokemon GO logo as a trademark has been accepted in China.
The request was formally granted by the authorities in China on November 28, 2017. The trademark will be valid up till February 2018 before it needs to be renewed again.
Don’t take this as a sign Pokemon GO will officially launch in China as Nintendo has previously registered trademarks for other Pokemon games but never officially distributed them in China. It’s more of a measure to prevent Pokemon plush bootleggers from misusing the logo.
