Earlier today, we reported Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee will not support online multiplayer. This turned out to be incorrect as there was some miscommunication at the press conference.
In an interview, IGN spoke to Game Freak director Junichi Masuda to clarify whether Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee supports online play. Masuda said while battling and trading will be available online, competitive ranked battles aren’t included.
Masuda also added there are no plans to utilize the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service which launches this September, so trainers who don’t have a subscription will still be able to enjoy Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee’s online functionality for free.
Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee launches November 16, 2018.
