Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Players Discover Easy Way To Find Shiny Pokemon Using Mass Outbreaks And Picnics

Alongside the duplication glitch, players have discovered another new exploit that can be used to find Shiny Pokemon more easily in Pokemon Scarlet And Violet.

This exploit involves a combination of the Mass Outbreak method of encountering Shinies, and the newly introduced Picnic feature. The basic steps of this method are as follows:

  1. Open your map and locate a Mass Outbreak. These are marked with a Pokemon icon with a flashing red symbol behind it.
  2. Go to where the Mass Outbreak is, and start knocking out Pokemon using the Let’s Go feature. Keep track of how many are being knocked out.
  3. Once you have knocked out 60 Pokemon, you would have activated the boosted Shiny rates for Mass Outbreaks, which brings it up to a 1/1035 chance from 1/4096.
  4. If the Shiny does not spawn, quickly set up a picnic by pressing the X button and selecting the option. This will cause all the Pokemon around you to despawn.
  5. Close the picnic again, which will cause all of the Mass Outbreak Pokemon to respawn, still with the boosted Shiny rates.
  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until the Shiny appears.

You can watch a video from PhillyBeatzU demonstrating this method below:

This method bears some similarity to the Mass Outbreak Shiny hunting method that existed in early versions of Pokemon Legends Arceus, except much quicker to pull off once it has been set up. As the exploit for Legends Arceus was eventually patched out, its possible that this method may also be removed in a future update. Be sure to use it to get your favorite Shiny Pokemon while you can!
