Production for New Nintendo 3DS has officially ended in Japan

Today marks the day of the New Nintendo 2DS LL’s official launch in Japan, and the day New Nintendo 3DS production ends in the country.

The official Nintendo website has updated its New Nintendo 3DS page, stating that “production has ended” for the New Nintendo 3DS. It’s not a huge surprise for those living in Japan, as the system has been hard to find in the last few months.

The New Nintendo 3DS launched alongside New Nintendo 3DS LL back in November 2014 in Japan. The system has everything its larger brother possesses – better 3D viewing range, HTML5 videos, and amiibo support. The New 3DS has a slightly shorter battery life, swappable cover plates, and a smaller compact design.

Although production for New Nintendo 3DS has ended, New Nintendo 3DS LL, Nintendo 2DS, and the latest New Nintendo 2DS LL will continue to be sold in the land of the rising sun.
