Pokemon fans often enjoy creating their own original “Fakemon”, some of which can be just as interesting, if not more so than official monsters. However, what would happen if an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tried its hand at doing the same?
To answer this question, Reddit user u/minimaxir trained an AI engine on the official artwork for every single Pokemon, and asked it to come up with its own designs.
Although many of the results appear to look strikingly similar to a real Pokemon design from a distance, looking closely quickly reveals that the AI doesn’t quite manage to get everything right, creating some truly unsettling creatures that may perhaps be more fitting as Ultra Beasts as opposed to regular Pokemon.
