Rumor: Game Freak Still Considering Full Remakes Of Past Pokemon Titles

Back in 2021, The Pokemon Company released Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl, a full remake of Pokemon Diamond And Pearl for the Switch. Although it performed well in terms of sales, the games were met with somewhat lukewarm reception from fans despite performing well in terms of sales.

Despite this setback, it seems Game Freak is still internally considering developing full remakes of this style in the future. In internal documents sourced from the infamous Tera Leak, Game Freak staff discuss the possibility of remakes for Pokemon Black And White, stating that such a project would require “a lot more love and care put into them”, presumably in reference to the middling reception of Brilliant Diamon and Shining Pearl.

Another document brings up the possibility of remakes for Pokemon X/Y, through a comment about giving spotlight over Legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal. Both Pokemon were apparently relegated to the sidelines in sequel Pokemon Legends Z-A, which focuses more on Zygarde. The comment suggests they could be represented “in the X/Y remake, or perhaps in another Legends Kalos title”.

Given that Game Freak’s slate is already planned out up until 2030, it seems unlikely that either of these remake projects will be greenlit any time soon, if at all. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
