New rumors have been swirling about the new Nintendo Switch Pro launching later this year from South Korea.
According to the rumors, the new model will make use of a Tegra SoC (system-on-chip) based on Volta GPU, which could be a Tegra Xavier that has a Carmel octa core CPU. That means it will not use a new variant of the Tegra X1.
Although the new chip is more powerful, the hypothetical Nintendo Switch Pro is not expected to support 4K. Although the Tegra Xavier’s GPU could support up to 1.4 TFLOPS, the Nintendo Switch Pro will not have sufficient power to support that, if we were to compare it to the Xbox One X.
That said, the Tegra Xavier could possibly bring FullHD support to the new model, so more Nintendo Switch games will be able to exceed the current 720p resolution or even achieve 60 fps.
