Some worrying news for western collectors looking to own a physical copy of Oninaki on Switch.
Earlier today, a Square Enix PR representative seemingly confirmed to JPSWITCHMANIA in an email that there are currently no plans to have a physical release of Oninaki for the West. This news comes shortly after Oninaki was given an official release date in Japan, which includes a physical version of the game for that region.
That said, as JPSWITCHMANIA points out in the above tweet, it is possible that Oninaki will be handled similar to RPG Factory’s previous game I Am Setsuna, and have the Japanese physical release also support English. We will await official clarification from Square Enix and RPG Factory on this situation, and bring more updates as they come.
Oninaki launches in Japan on August 22, and will release in the West sometime in Summer 2019.
