Amidst heavy speculation about an upcoming successor to the Nintendo Switch, a rumor has surfaced that a remaster of a classic 3D Sonic game is in the works for the unannounced console.
The classic game in question is Sonic Heroes, which was released back in 2003 for Gamecube and other platforms. The rumor first surfaced via the infamous insider Zippo, who claimed on his blog that ” a full on, Unreal Engine 5 powered remake of a big, important, seminal 3D Sonic game” was being worked on by Sonic Team. This was followed up by reports from other insiders Necro Felipe and Midori, who both claimed that this game is Sonic Heroes. Necro Felipe in particular claimed that the game is being planned to launch on the Switch’s successor and other modern platforms in 2025.
As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take them with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more info as it comes.
