Shantae Developer WayForward Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary

On this week 30 years ago, the developers at WayForward began their slow climb toward video game stardom!

Indeed, the creators of Shantae did not actually kick off their careers by developing the 2002 Game Boy Color title. Their first actual projects saw them supporting other games such as Mickey’s Ultimate Challenge (1993), Xtreme Sports (2000), and much more.

Fast-forward three decades, and WayForward’s Shantae series is now popular enough to even get some small cameos in  Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! These days, the company is also better known for their fresh IPs such as Mighty Switch Force! and Vitamin Connection – along with lending their amazing talents in games such as River City Girls and DuckTales: Remastered.

What are YOUR favorite WayForward games? Are you still hoping for some to hit the Switch? Feel free to share your thoughts with us below!
