Signing Up For News On Pokemon Quest’s Chinese Website Will Give You Bootleg Scam Messages
Previously, we reported that Pokemon Quest was finally heading to China, with a countdown website now live. Fans who registered for news updates about the game, however, have been getting a rude shock.
Apparently, those on NetEase’s mailing list have been receiving scam messages for other bootleg Pokemon games. Check out the details below, courtesy of a tweet by Chinese Nintendo.
Scam text translation:
[Pokémon] The Pokémon game you signed up for is open for an elite trial period! Enter now to get the time-limited Mewtwo! <URL> Reply T to unsubscribe(The Pokémon name in the text is an unofficial translation)

Perhaps Nintendo and The Pokemon Company should have trusted other local partners to handle their precious Pokemon franchise. Let’s hope NetEase can be bothered to clean up this entire mess soon.
