Sonic 3 Prototype Reveals The Game Was Going To Introduce The Drop Dash Before Sonic Mania

Recently on Twitch, The Hidden Palace streamed an exclusive prototype of Sonic 3 for the Mega Drive that included different level layouts, cut zones, different music, cut mechanics and different sprites from the final game.

However, it seems that game was originally going to introduce the drop dash mechanic 25 years before Sonic Mania would eventually introduce it.

Check it out below:

This build of the game was created on November 3rd 1993 which was less than 3 weeks before the final build was created on November 20th 1993 which means the Sonic 3 went through many changes in its last few weeks of development.
