Earlier this year, SEGA announced the production of Sonic Prime – an upcoming Netflix animated series that will see videogame icon Sonic the Hedgehog saving the multiverse. While we’ve not received any further details about the show, we now have a possible first sneak peek into how it will look!
Fans have unearthed what appears to be concept artwork for the show from the ArtStation page of visual development/environmental artist Patrick Horan, who has since taken it down. On his profile, Horan clarified that he did indeed work on concept art for the show:
“These are concept pieces I painted for the Netflix Series Sonic Prime. I was responsible for cleaning up the layouts and color. Character posing and design provided.”
A closer look at the concept artwork shows a minor redesign for Sonic, who now has new gloves and shoes. Additionally, it shows off the character encountering alternate versions of familiar friends and foes – such as a savage Amy Rose, Tails with more than 2 tails, and Eggman at different ages!
