Sony chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida has revealed the true reason why it’s not allowing cross platform play between PS4 and other video game consoles such as Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
In an interview with The Independent, Yoshida said Sony has always believed PlayStation is the best place to experience Fortnite. Therefore, in order not to compromise that experience, cross platform play with Nintendo Switch and Xbox One are not allowed.
However, what strikes as odd is that Sony has opened up cross platform play for several titles to PC and smartphones on a case-by-case-basis. Sony explains that by saying it is for the “best user experience”.
Finally, Yoshida believes competition is “always good” and competition “with Nintendo and Xbox is a healthy situation.”
