Earlier today, publisher Super Rare Games finally launched their paid membership system – which allows subscribers to buy their exclusive physical releases 48 hours earlier than anyone else.
However, Many fans of the company have been less than enthusiastic with the subscription model.
In particular, some felt like they might miss out on popular games if they did not subscribe. Likewise, others accused Super Rare Games of playing on such fears – and called the membership a cash-grab.
Meanwhile, other fans were disappointed at how little the subscription model offered for its asking price of £25. Some remarked that the one-time discount coupon was simply too stingy.
Later on, the company’s owner George Perkins apologized to Switch collectors and fans on Twitter – citing that Super Rare Games would do its best to allay these concerns.
It’s a little unfortunate that Super Rare Games is getting so much flak, despite its attempt to offer more value to customers. Hopefully the company can escape all the bad press soon.
