Following the start of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in North America, eBay has been flooded with listings for the consoles from scalpers.
While there are some absurd listings priced between USD800 to USD1,000 with no buyers, at the time of writing (April 25, 2025), there seems to be many people purchasing Nintendo Switch 2 standalone and Mario Kart World sets from USD600 to USD750, a USD100 to USD300 markup over the USD449.99 and USD499.99 price tags respectively. This can be observed by filtering the search results to “buy now” and “sold listings”.
In addition, some fake listings created by Nintendo fans to stop scalpers were also marked as sold, indicating that some people who are looking for the system may not read the description of such listings. A listing that sold for USD399.99 explicitly says that “you are buying a picture of a Nintendo Switch 2! Don’t buy if you’re a real person!”
Nintendo fans are recommended not to buy the Switch 2 from scalpers, as there will be plenty of opportunities to pre-order and purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 from My Nintendo Store and other retailers. Nintendo has also promised to increase production accordingly to meet the very high demand.
