Dataminer Ozzie9889 has discovered two references to a popular Nintendo character in the code of Mario Tennis Aces.
The references to the popular Nintendo character could indicate that they will become playable in some way in the future. For those of you who do not wish to be spoiled, please do not proceed reading any further as we will reveal who the character is.
The code is as follows:
- kage_link = {point unlock; [500]}
- link_champion = {point unlock; [2000]}
As you can tell, the codes mention Link, the protaganist of The Legend of Zelda series. Each line of code refers to two different outfits Link wears. It’s unclear whether the Link outfits are merely costumes or different versions of a playable Link character. We can also tell that the playable character or costumes are unlocked by accumulating points in online tournaments.
It woudln’t be surprising to see Link appear in Mario Tennis Aces, as he has after all, driven karts and motorcycles in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
