Ace Attorney Series Director and Writer Takeshi Yamazaki Has Departed From Capcom

It looks like another major name at Capcom has finally decided to move on to different pastures.

Earlier this weekend, Ace Attorney director and writer Takeshi Yamazaki revealed that he has left Capcom – after a 15-year long career there. While he did not specify his future plans, he promised fans that he would still be working on videogames in the future, along with other new endeavors:

“I regret to say that I have graduated from Capcom, which has taken care of me for over 15 years.

Although leaving a company is always painful, I like to think of this as ‘graduating’. I’m truly glad I was able to make games and meet the Ace Attorney series at Capcom.

I will continue to work in game development, but also be taking on new challenges. There’s so much to do! I’m looking forward to it!”

(Rough translation, thanks in part to @CourtRecords)

While the original Ace Attorney trilogy was kickstarted by his colleague Shu Takumi, Takeshi Yamazaki would go on to direct Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth plus its Japanese-only sequel, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, and Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice.

In any case, the NintendoSoup team would like to wish Mr. Yamazaki the best as he pursues other endeavors in the future. If you’re a fan yourself, do pay a visit to his Twitter and give him your regards too!
