Sometimes, a creative vision can stray so far from its original intent that it becomes unrecognizable.
As we reported previously, Sonic the Hedgehog is getting a pretty uncanny make-over for his first feature film – with realistic sneakers and human-like legs. Fans have been in an uproar, with many already decrying that the movie will be an absolute disaster.
Now, it looks like several former developers of Sonic the Hedgehog games are also weighing in on the film’s strange design. From their tweets, they seem just as confused and perplexed as fans:
“Sonic is a fairy of hedgehog, so he doesn’t need to be designed closer to a real hedgehog even in a live action.
Mickey doesn’t become a mouse in live action, does he? Because they are fairies who can live on when people believe in them.”
“I’ve heard that Sonic movie was going to be a mixture of live action and animation, but I haven’t expected this…”
“Wooow, they made a totally unexpected arrangement there *rofl* ”
“From the comments here, it looks like it’s very badly received. I wonder if the movie is actually good when you watch it. I see many movies based on Anime or games are unpopular, and I wonder why that happens…”
We’ll just have to wait and see if everyone’s fears come true, when the film launches worldwide in 2019.
