Following Niantic’s announcement to pledge $5 million in supporting the black community and related non-profit organisations, the Pokemon Company themselves have also issued a statement in which they announced that they will also be donating a minimum of $5 million to non-profit organisations around the world.
This donation aims to support “the lives of children with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion”. In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, beneficiaries of the donation include organisations assisting Black children in “education and mentorship opportunities”.
