Earlier this year, a Guatemalan retailer had seemingly leaked that a Prince of Persia Remake was heading to Switch. Well, this information was unfortunately de-confirmed today – but not without generating some confusion amongst Nintendo fans.
During today’s Ubisoft Forward presentation, the publisher officially announced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake for PC, PS4, and Xbox One – with a release in January 2021. In the end, it looks like no Switch version was planned at all.
Or so it seems. Strangely enough, the game’s official website and even Ubisoft’s French Twitter account briefly mentioned that the game would also launch on Nintendo Switch alongside these other platforms (as seen in the screenshots below).
These mentions of a Switch release were promptly removed from the site and Twitter – so it looks like this could have been a big mistake on Ubisoft’s part. Perhaps a Switch version was once planned and scrapped entirely, or Ubisoft still has plans for Switch but revealed them too early.
In any case, we’ll keep a look out for more updates on this in the future. For now, you can check out the official announcement trailer below:
