Rumor: Pokemon 2019 Switch RPG To Take Place In United Kingdom Inspired Region

We are now in 2019 and the first rumors of where the upcoming Pokemon 2019 RPG for Nintendo Switch will take place have started to surface.

Although no information has officially been released about the Pokemon 2019 RPG, nearly all rumors are suggesting that the games will take place in a region inspired by the United Kingdom. Some rumors even suggest that the games will be called “Pokemon Crown” and “Pokemon Sceptre”.

To fully understand the origins of the rumors, we have to first return to Pokemon X/Y and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Although those games were released years before Pokemon Sun and Moon, there were hints pointing to the Alola region.

For instance, in Pokemon X/Y, there was the “Mysterious Souvenir” which hinted to players the Hawaiian nature of the Alola region:

Later in Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, a poster showing a tropical island, teasing the tropical nature of Alola, was found:

Now let’s head over to Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee, which was released for Nintendo Switch last year. Twitter user ShiningStar5022 found a calendar with a map of an unknown region. Based on the shape of the map, it could represent a region that looks like the United Kingdom:

For comparison’s sake, here’s the map of the United Kingdom:

Pokemon Youtuber RuffledRowlit also found hints to the United Kingdom inspired region in the Pokemon Sun & Moon anime:

Besides hints in the official games and anime is the appearance of the crown, representing the British monarchy, creeping into Pokemon artwork, graphics, and merchandise. For instance, a Pikachu wearing a crown has been discovered in Pokemon GO files:

James Turner, graphics designer at Game Freak, posted a picture of Pikachu wearing a crown to celebrate 2019:

Last but not least, 2018’s Pokemon Christmas merchandise featured Pikachu and Eevee wearing crown-like hats:
