SEGA has confirmed that their ongoing Sega Ages project will end with “Herzog Zwei“, a classic RTS game due to release on August 27.
The news comes from an interview published on Game Watch, where they sat down with the various members of the SEGA AGES team to discuss Herzog Zwei. In the interview, SEGA’s Yosuke Okunari explained that Herzog Zwei would be the last game in the SEGA AGES line. However, the company still plans to port more games to the Switch in the future, although he could not share any specifics.
You can check out a rough translation of what he had to say below (via Google):
The “SEGA AGES” project will end with “Herzog Zwei”, but if you don’t have a title that you have published in the past, you can still buy it, so please play. However, SEGA’s reprinting of past titles is not the end. In addition to me, our Kodama and Shimomura (Mr. Kazumasa) are now steadily preparing for the next project. I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you at this point if M2 is also participating. However, I am hoping to live up to my imagination and expectations, saying, “Oh, I’m sure we’re doing something with M2 again.”
Since “SEGA AGES” is over, I wonder if Sega will not release reprint titles on Nintendo Switch, so I don’t want to do that. We would like to offer new and satisfying Switch users, so please look forward to that time.
