A few months ago, Paramount released the first trailer for their official Sonic the Hedgehog Movie, which received backlash so immense that the studio decided to delay the film till February 2020 in order to fix the blue blur’s questionable movie design.
Speaking to Variety, Executive Producer Tim Miller recounted how he and Director Jeff Fowler felt about the initial backlash. As it turns out, they were both in full agreement with the fans who hated Sonic’s movie look.
“Look, I was with fans and so was Jeff. When the s–t hit the fan, I went over there and said, “The most important thing to do, man, is say, ‘I f–ked up.’ He’d already sent a tweet out an hour before I got there. He’s a good man. It was exactly the right way to handle that. The fans have a voice in this too. There’s a right way to listen.”
When asked if he’d seen the new redesign, Miller confirmed that he had, and that he believes they got it right this time.
“in fact I have. And I think the fans will be pleased.”
