Last year, rumors surfaced that Nintendo was working on smaller Switch 2 cartridge sizes, which would give developers a lower cost alternative to the standard 64gb carts that are currently being used for Switch 2 games.
Now, it seems we have official confirmation of one of these smaller cart sizes. In a promotional image for the Switch 2 physical release of Stellar BladeĀ wording can be seen confirming that the game will ship on a 32gb cart.
The lack of alternatives to the standard 64gb cart is one speculated reason that developers are opting to ship their games on Game-Key cards instead. With this confirmation that the 32gb cart and possibly the 16gb cart exist, we may see more developers opting for true physical releases of their games on cart.
