Tears of the Kingdom has brought the series to new heights in just a few weeks according to Guinness World Records.
The latest game in the Legend of Zelda series on the Nintendo Switch is already one for the history books as it has become the fastest-selling Nintendo video-game of all time.
It released on May 12th and sold 10 million copies in its first three days breaking the record previously set by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 5 years ago in 2018. For comparison, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, sold 12.08 million copies in 24 days.
In regards to the series as a whole, Tears of the Kingdom is now the fastest-selling Legend of Zelda video-game in the franchise’s 37-year history as well. The title was previously held by 2011’s Skyward Sword which came to the Nintendo Switch during the wait for a Breath of the Wild sequel to release.
