Fans were delighted with Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons direct, which showcased many features of the upcoming Switch game. However, one spooky detail was discovered during the 22nd minute: a tombstone.
In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, the tombstone was inconspicuously tucked away at the corner, covered by trees and flowers and was only on screen for mere seconds.
See the spookiness for yourself here:
Could this be an indication that the cheery exterior of New Horizons hides some dastardly secrets? …Probably not.
That hasn’t stopped fans from theorizing that the grave could be for some of the franchise’s more elderly characters like Tortimer. More likely (and less grim) suggestions include that it is either merely a decorative item or the home of Wisp who was confirmed to be returning in the direct.
What do you think, some fun spooky humor or something more nefarious?
