Today, Nintendo released their fiscal earnings for the 9 months ending December 31, 2019 – revealing sales figures for various first-party titles.
In particular, Luigi’s Mansion 3 has moved a whopping 5.37 million copies worldwide since its launch on 31 Oct 2019. The figure includes both physical and digital copies – with Japan accounting for 730,000 of those sales, while 4.65 million copies sold overseas outside Japan.
Of course, this makes Luigi’s Mansion 3 the fastest-selling entry of the whole series so far! In contrast, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon took three years (2013 – 2016) to hit 5.2 million sales, while the original Luigi’s Mansion on GameCube topped off at around 2.5 million copies in lifetime sales.
All around, it looks like the Switch title has enjoyed a splendid launch! Let’s hope Nintendo gets the hint and starts working on the series again in the near future!
