Earlier this week, Nintendo held a Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Direct, giving us a closer look at the game’s new and returning features.
One interesting tidbit is that the Mii characters featured in the gameplay portions differ depending on the region. In total, there are separate variations for Japan, North America, and the UK, each featuring a distinct set of characters.

It is not entirely clear why Nintendo chose to do this, although it seems likely to be a mix of playful marketing along with a demonstration of the game’s customization capabilities.
